Nicola was born in The Brecklands Norfolk England, Where this brought about privileges of all aspects of rural life. Growing up surrounded by fields, Wooded groves, Brook's streams and the river network of the broad land, England's largest lowland Forest,And within driving distance to a hundred mile coast line, Which includes Britain’s largest area of seasonally flooded land, The Fenland Washes covering the counties of Norfolk,Cambridgeshire,Suffolk,Lincolnshire, And makes the setting for one of the most magical events in the U.K’s nature calendar - mass winter gatherings of many thousands of wild birds and water fowl.
It became a idyllic childhood adventure to discover " The universe,Art, nature and the environment," All in its natural purest form. A passion and fascination that remains with Nicola to this day. Those formative years gave Nicola the Zealous ambition to represent Nature and mankind in its truest authentic form.

Nicola has also worked along side highly talented professional & award winning experts in the Broadcasting industry and gained much knowledge and insight, Even though just remaining a keen enthusiastic amateur photographer with a keen interest in conservation of the natural environment ..

Why photography?

Guess photography has become my escapism and pleasure, Escapism from the chaotic inharmonious world, and directing me towards Social harmony and renewing the human wholeness in the aesthetic reflection, Being a person often deep in thoughts of if whys and buts of existence, and questioning the darkness within the human soul.
Guess when trying to capture an expression of the aesthetic experience and try to make it co-exist within some of my nature/wildlife compositions when composing a piece, As much as possible. ((not always successful, depending on own mood )
But this l mean becoming submerged in the object taking also the observer on a journey until no awareness of him/herself as separate from what he See's or hears, From what he is experiencing exist, Just the purity of contemplations the object.

As Einstein quoted.
“Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts."

Nicola is also inspired by Music,Literature,Hiking,Cycling the country side & the pure Contemplations of the human condition & nature's canvas …

Peace ~

To quote few of my favourite Quotes & Verses, And personal to me, Some past,Some present, Some to aspire to .

We are talking only to ourselves,We are not talking to the rivers, We are not listening to the wind and stars.
We have broken the great conversation. By breaking that conversation we have shattered the universe. All disasters that are happening now are a consequence of that spiritual "autism"

Thomas Berry, The Dream of the Earth..

The waves roar around you, and you are wave; the forest rustles, and you are forest. There is no outside and inside. You fly, a bird in the air; you swim, a fish in the sea; you absorb light, and you are light; you taste darkness and are darkness. We wander, soul, we swim and fly, and smile and tie the torn threads again with ghostly fingers and blissfully drown out the destroyed pinions. We no longer seek God. We are God. We are the world. We kill and die along with others. We create and are resurrected with our dreams. Our most beautiful dream is the blue sky; our most beautiful dream is the sea; our most beautiful dream is the bright starry night, and is the fish, and is the clear happy noise and the clear happy light - everything is our dream. Each one is our most beautiful dream. We have just died and become earth. We have just invented laughter. We have just arranged a constellation.
An excerpt from "A dream sequence" -Hermann Hesse

The Same stream of life that runs
through my veins night and day runs
through the world and dances in rhythmic measure.
It is the same life that shoots in joy
through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and
breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the oceans-cradle
of birth and of death, In ebb and in flow
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world
of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages
dancing in my blood this moment.

Rabindranath Tagore.
Gitanjali, LXIX

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

- Kalidasa

"Reverie is not a mind vacuum. It is rather the gift of an hour which knows the plenitude of the soul." — Gaston Bachelard

“We comfort ourselves by reliving memories of protection. Something closed must retain our memories, while leaving them their original value as images. Memories of the outside world will never have the same tonality as those of home and, by recalling these memories, we add to our store of dreams; we are never real historians, but always near poets, and our emotion is perhaps nothing but an expression of a poetry that was lost.”
― Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space

“Baudelaire writes: In certain almost supernatural inner states, the depth of life is entirely revealed in the spectacle, however ordinary, that we have before our eyes, and which becomes the symbol of it." Here we have a passage that designates the phenomenological direction I myself pursue. The exterior spectacle helps intimate grandeur unfold.”
― Gaston Bachelard

“I am alone so I dream of the being who has cured my solitude, who would be cured by solitudes. With its life, it brought me the idealizations of life, all the idealizations which give life a double, which lead life toward it summits, which make the dreamer too live by splitting...”
― Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Reverie

“The deep ecologists warn us not to be anthropocentric, but I know no way to look at the world, settled or wild, except through my own human eyes. I know that is wasn't created especially for my use, and I share the guilt for what members of my species, especially the migratory ones, have done to it. But I am the only instrument that I have access to by which I can enjoy the world and try to understand it. So I must believe that, at least to human perception, a place is not a place until people have been born in it, have grown up in it, have lived in it, known it, died in it--have both experienced and shaped it, as individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities, over more than one generation. Some are born in their place, some find it, some realize after long searching that the place they left is the one they have been searching for. But whatever their relation to it, it is made a place only by slow accrual, like a coral reef.”
Wallace Stegner ( Where the Bluebird Sings to the Lemonade Springs ).
